El quick hitch is the tool that facilitates the attachment of compatible accessories to a rototiller or tiller. This quick hitch acts as a universal connector for all the other tools that can complement a rototiller, be it a potato starter, water pump, cutter bar, adjustable furrower, among others. These accessories are sold separately to the tiller but their accessibility and prices will vary from the brand and its specifications.
It is of utmost importance that the quick hitch installed correctly to avoid accidents with the walking tractor. In general terms, the rototiller can be defined as an automotive agricultural tool equipped with a single drive shaft. On his own he cannot develop any work and needs to be coupled with an agricultural accessory or implement such as those mentioned above to develop the desired work.
Risk situations
Turning or reversing maneuvers
The cutter axle is always located at the rear of the wheel axle. That is, just in front of the operator's feet. When moving forward, do not place your feet in the risk area, as the machine is moving ahead of the farmer. The natural turning movement is towards the operator, which brings together three risk situations:
- The cutter mechanism is not resting on the ground but continues to rotate
- The machine makes a direct turn towards the operator
- The element that poses a risk of cutting (the bur) comes dangerously close to the individual at a certain height
Whatever the cause, there are always two consequences:
- A sudden movement of the cutting element (cutter) upwards
- A change in the speed of the strawberry.
In this situation, the following precautionary measures can be taken:
- The hoe train must have a full protective cover at all times. At the same time, it is best to ensure that the quick coupler is properly adjusted.
- The state of conservation of the roof should be checked frequently, and appropriate maintenance measures taken to guarantee its correct condition.
- Every tiller should have a built-in mechanism that automatically disengages the transmission declutch that sends power to the PTO as soon as reverse gear is engaged. This in order not to allow the machine to keep moving and come to a complete stop on the hoe train.
