How does the manual press work?
- Before starting to use the press, it is advisable to get rid of any traces of dust on the inside with a brush or air jet. Once the dust has been scraped off, use a cloth to clean the cage, the half moons and the wooden blocks.
- We remove all the internal pieces of wood and we will make sure that the cage is kept closed with the pins that are included. After we have reviewed all of the above, we will lift the ratchet up along the worm by turning it counterclockwise. Once this is done, we will fill the cage with the fruit and place the half moons so that they cover the top completely. To ensure the product is inside the press, we will place the plugs perpendicular to the direction of which the half moons were placed.
- We will lower the ratchet by turning it clockwise until it rests completely on the wooden blocks previously placed. Then we will put the stops taking care that the tips in the holes enter with those of the crown.
- We will insert the lever in the hole of the ratchet and we will block it with the wing nut.
- Move the lever back and forth as if it were a ratchet. By wearing a locking system, you always have pressure on the product.
- The fact of moving the lever back and forth makes the ratchet go down to the level of the upper edges of the cage. As soon as the ratchet reaches the stop, the same action will have to be repeated (we will change the direction of the tightening to be able to unscrew the ratchet and thus refill the grapes.)
- Once the pressing is finished, we will bring the ratchet upwards by turning in the opposite direction to the needles of the clock. Once this is done, we remove the blocks, remove the cage and extract the pulp residue at the bottom of the press.
